The world has seen a rise in information technology, but the sad truth is that many have been left behind and the gap between those comfortable using computers and those without computer skills continues to grow. Computer illiteracy has created a disadvantage for not only workers, but also for companies and communities alike. It has caused huge job displacement. People are finding that their jobs are fundamentally changed because of computers. Education and computer skills correlate more directly than ever before with income and social life, therefore causing what is now termed as the "Digital Divide". Keeping this gap from getting any wider is a global effort, and DECO (Digital Enrichment Cooperative) is playing its part as a corporate sponsor in this effort by providing computer education at no charge to those who are inexperienced with technology.
