How to: Rejuvenating old wooden floors can be a real labour of love and disappointment if not done correctly.
To do a proper job, you will need to hire an industrial grade floor belt sander, edging sander and flexi sander. We like to use the ones manufactured by Bona.
The process, start by clearing all staples and proud nails, tacks. Then edge with the edging sander 40 grit is a good levelling abrassive, then use the belt sander with a 40 grit abrasive, make sure you complete full passes that slightly overlap. Imagine striping a lawn with a lawn mower.
Repeat the process through 60 grit to 80-120 grit. The Finish with a flexi sander 120 grit.
Give the floor a good vacuum, then apply br brush or roller your wood primer or first coat of product.
We recommend Bona Traffic, Bona Go or Loba WB if you are in a hurry and still want to achieve a professional finish.
If time is not of the essence, Osmo Hardwax floor oil is a traditionally good product or Mylands.
Good luck restoring.
